Leading Benelux arthouse distributor Paradiso Filmed Entertainment has acquired MIchael Morris’ drama To Leslie, for which Andrea Riseboroough has an Oscar nomination for best actress, from Mister Smith Entertainment.
Riseborough plays an alcoholic Texan woman who won the lottery a few years before but has frittered away all the cash and is now fallen on hard times.
Other titles on Paradiso’s upcoming slate include Maïwenn’s Jeanne DuBarry, starring Johnny Depp as Louis XV, sold by Wild Bunch International.
The company is closing in on various titles in the EFM but is also acquiring more and more titles between festivals and markets.
“Acquisitions is no longer a market-centred event,” said Paradiso managing director Dirk De Lille. ”It is [happening] throughout the year.”
