
The US Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited 529 filmmakers and executives to join the organisation, more than half of them from outside the US.
Of the 2026 class of invitees, 42% are women, 56% belong to underrepresented communities and 53% are from 60 countries and territories outside the US.
The class includes 95 Oscar nominees, including 21 winners, and three Scientific and Technical Award recipients.
Actors invited to join the Academy include Mathieu Amalric, Jemaine Clement, Paddy Considine, Jacob Elordi, Stephen Fry, Suzy Eddie Izzard, Josh O’Connor, Miguel Sandoval, Bill Skarsgård and Teyana Taylor.
Directors in the group include Zach Cregger, Tom Harper, Oliver Laxe, Benny Safdie and Josh Safdie.
Among executives in the invitee class are National Geographic EVP Carolyn Bernstein, Walt Disney Co CEO Josh D’Amaro and MK2 CEO Nathanaël Karmitz.
Producers on the list include Sylvain Corbeil, Maria Ekerhovd and Liza Marshall.
Academy CEO Bill Kramer and president Lynette Howell Taylor commented: “We are delighted to invite this remarkable group of film artists and professionals from around the world to join the Academy.
