EXCLUSIVE: New Europe Film Sales has acquired worldwide sales rights on Grzegorz Debowski’s What Belongs To Others, which has just been selected for its world premiere in the Horizons strand at Venice Film Festival (September 2-12).
What Belongs To Others follows Kasia, who earns her living by breaking into other people’s homes. One day she finds a man’s dead body, and decides to move into his apartment and find out who he was. As she pieces together his memories, relationships and secrets, it awakens a dream of another life in her and gives her strength to make changes.
The film was produced by Agnieszka Skalska for Poland’s Blue Onion, in co-production with the Mazovia Warsaw Film Fund, Podkarpackie Regional Film Fund, Koi Studio, Color Pro and Ucho Studio. It was supported by Polish Film Institute.
It is Debowski’s second feature film, after 2023’s Next To Nothing, which debuted at Gdynia Polish Film Festival.
“It’s a pleasure working with a film that is so current and surprising,” said New Europe CEO Jan Naszewski. “Grzegorz did a great job keeping us guessing what happens next throughout the movie.”
