Nu Image Bulgaria will begin filming Oct 22 on Brandhauser, an international intrigue parody starring John Cusack,Joan Cusack, Hilary Duff and Marisa Tomei.
Josh Seftel, one of the directorsbehind TV series Queer Eye For The Straight Guy, will direct the $10m project, alsoknown as War Inc.
The film will shoot for nineweeks at Nu Image's Boyana studios in Sofia with five days in Plovdiv, Bulgaria's second-largest city. Nu Image Bulgaria head David Varod told the Bulgarian press thatconstruction was underway at Boyana on a "grandiose" desert-city set.
In the film, a former US president, whose private corporation has taken overa desert country, hires a hitman (Cusack) to kill the head of a rival company.But the would-be assassin falls in love with an investigative reporter.
Cusack also serves as aproducer on the project, along with Varod, Grace Loh, Les Weldon, Danny Lerner andAvi Lerner. Doug Dearth is serving as co-producer. Executive producers are DannyDimbort and Boaz Davidson. Nu Image is presently handling international salesand distribution.
Varod told local media that Nu Image planned to shoot four projects in Bulgaria in 2007, each with a budget of over $40m. Varod alsoexpressed hopes to raise the Nu Image Bulgaria payroll to 1,000 people and to produce a "100%Bulgarian" film.
