The deal covers an initial period of one year, for DVD releases of all titles that Filmworks acquires during the next 12 months.
The first release under the pact will be Australian hit comedy Kenny, which Skyworks has slated for a September 7 theatrical release, followed by Contender's handling of the DVD release about four months later. The UK DVD is the first outside Australia.
The deal was was negotiated between head of Odeon Sky Filmworks, Tony Miller, and director of Contender Entertainment, Jon Bourdillon.
Miller said: 'I'm thrilled that our titles will be distributed by the biggest independent home entertainment distributor in the UK. I hope this will be seen as a real statement of intent for Odeon Sky Filmworks to optimise distribution across all windows, and look forward to working with Contender.'
Bourdillon added: 'We are very pleased that Odeon Sky Filmworks have chosen Contender as their home entertainment partner. This choice reflects Contender's growing stature within the feature film sector of the UK DVD market.'
