The company's debut release in UK theatres will be Australian hit comedy Kenny, a mockumentary about an employee in a company that rents toilets for big events. 'It gives us an opportunity to do something a little different to announce ourselves,' commented Filmworks head Tony Miller. The release is likely to be in the summer.
Odeon and Sky Filmworks was formed last autumn. The new distribution company aims to release up to six features a year. The films will go out theatrically through Odeon (and other cinema chains if there is demand) before being shown on Sky and being made available on DVD.
Kenny, directed by Clayton Jacobson, has been a runaway box-office hit in Australia.
