Paramount Pictures’ Mark Wahlberg crime thriller will receive its world premiere on November 10.

Rupert Wyatt directed The Gambler from a screenplay by William Monahan about an English professor whose high-stakes gambling habit lands him in trouble with gangsters.

Wahlberg stars alongside John Goodman, Brie Larson, Michael Kenneth Williams and Jessica Lange and also produced the film alongside Stephen Levinson, Irwin Winkler, Robert Chartoff and David Winkler. Paramount will release The Gambler on December 19 in the US.

As previously announced, the world premiere of J C Chandor’s A Most Violent Year and a screening of Foxcatcher bookend the AFI FEST, while Sophia Loren is the subject of a tribute.

The festival is set to run in Hollywood from November 6-13.
