Laxmikant Shetgaonkar’s The Man Beyond The Bridge (Paltadacho Munis) was awarded the grand jury prize for best narrative as the 8th Annual Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles came to a close.

Dilip Mehta’s Cooking With Stella receiving an honourable mention in the category.

Nishta Jain’s At My Doorstep was named best documentary grand jury prize winner and Deepa Bhatia’s Nero’s Guestsearned an honourable mention.

Ritesh Batra’s Gareeb Nawaz’s Taxi won the grand jury prize for best short film and Anjoo Khosla’s Wahid’s Mobile Bookstore received an honourable mention.

Audience Choice Awards went to Paresh Mokashi’s Harishchandrachi Factory for narrative, Ritu Sarin and Tenzing Sonam’s The Sun Behind The Clouds: Tibet’s Struggle For Freedom for documentary, and Terrie Samundra’s Kunjo for short film.

The IFFLA Industry Leadership Award honoured Fox International Productions president Sanford Panitch and Uday Shankar, CEO of STAR India, with a personal tribute from Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan.

More than 7,000 people attended screenings at the ArcLight Hollywood over the course of the festival, which spanned April 20-25.

“This year’s festival has been a great opportunity to celebrate the work of known Indian film-makers and introduce a new generation of talents as they enter a global film-making community,” IFFLA executive director Christina Marouda said.
