EON Productions and MGM have hired Peter Morgan, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade to write the screenplay for the 23rd James Bond instalment.

Daniel Craig will reprise his role as Ian Fleming’s super-spy in what will be his third outing following Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace. A start date will be announced in due course.

MGM is aiming for a 2011 launch now that it is back in the saddle and fully handling the release following its co-production partnership with Sony on the last two films, which Sony released. MGM released all the previous Bond films

“Peter, Neal and Robert are extraordinarily talented and we’re looking forward to working with the three of them,” EON’s Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, the film’s producers, said in a statement.

Morgan earned Oscar nominations for The Queen and First/Nixon and previously wrote The Last King Of Scotland. He will be available to commence work on the Bond script once he has completed the upcoming The Special Relationship for HBO and Hereafter for DreamWorks. Morgan is represented by UTA in the US and Independent Talent Group in the UK.

Since 1991 Purvis and Wade have collaborated on such projects as The Italian Job, Johnny English and the past four Bond films. They recently adapted John Le Carre’s The Mission Song and are working on the upcoming sequel The Brazilian Job.

Purvis and Wade are represented by Endeavor in the US and Casarotto Ramsay & Associates in the UK.
