Spurred by top berths in Italy, France and Spain at the weekend,Universal's romantic comedy Along Came Polly added an estimated $11m through UIP fora $39m international running total.

Pollyopened top in Italy ahead of five local language releases on $1.6m from 225sites and opened on the same amount in France from 325 and 16% market share.

Despite a three-hour nationwideclosure of Spanish theatres on Friday night following last week's terroristbombings, Polly was able to open on$1.4m and ranked second.

A $345,000 opening from 35 in Belgium had Polly vying for first place there with Gothika while in its second week in Germany itmoved up to first place on $2.3m, dropping 26% for $6.21m after 11 days. Italso remained top in its second week in Austria on a $1m running total.

Elsewhere the picture fell to second in Mexico on $550,000 from231 for $2m after 10 days and fourth in the UK on $1.6m from 379 for $11.4mafter 17 days.

There are 29 countries to open,including Argentina, Netherlands and Taiwan next weekend.

The dance drama Honey was dethroned in the UK by paid previewsof BVI's Starsky & Hutch. Honeyadded $894,000 from 317 for $2m in the UK and raised its internationalcumulative score to $16.4m with 15 markets to open.
