EXCLUSIVE: Carlo Cresta-Dina’s Tempesta Film, the outfit behind Alice Rohrwacher’s new feature Corpo Celeste (screening in the Quinzaine and sold by RAI Trade), has revealed details of its next projects.
One new project is hard-hitting Naples-set drama The Break, to be directed by newcomer Leonardo Di Constanzo. It is scripted by Maurizio Braucci (who co-scripted Matteo Garrone’s Cannes hit Gomorra.) The film will be shot in an abandoned hospital in the Naples area. The €1.4 million will also be sold by RAI Trade.
Meanwhile, Alice Rohrwacher is at work on a new feature - a satirical comedy about the obsesion with natural food that will take sideswipes at the Slow Food movement.
Tempesta is also setting up a crowd sourcing software system for cinema. The company has also recently signed a contract with Italian energy company Edison to develop a protocol for sustainable film production.
Corpo Celeste is about a 13 year old called Marta, struggling to resettle to the south of Italy after ten years growing up in Switzerland. Bright-eyed and restless, she observes the sights, sounds and smells of the city but feels very much an outsider. Following its world premiere in Cannes, the film will be released in Italy by Instituto Luce. The film has also been acquired in France by Ad Vitam.
Tempesta was set up in 2008. Founder Carlo Cresta-Dina started the company after working for Fandango. He was one of the producers on portmanteau film Tickets, featuring films by Ken Loach, Emanno Olmi and Abbas Kiarostami.
