The 40th Rotterdam Film Festival (Jan 26-Feb 21) will be paying tribute to filmmakers FJ Ossang, Agusti Villaronga and Nathaniel Dorsky.

The festival will be screening the directors’ latest films, earlier works and hosting Q&A sessions.

Palme d’Or and Golden Bear nominated director Agusti Vollaronga has worked as costume designer, production designer, actor, writer and director during a 35-year career. His latest feature Black Bread, which premiered in San Sebastian last month, stars Sergi Lopez and Nora Navas.

Writer, singer and filmmaker FJ Ossang made his feature debut in 1985. His road movie Docteur Chance (1997), with The Clash’s front man Joe Strummer, was selected in competition at the Locarno film festival.

Experimental director Nathaniel Dorsky specialises in documentaries and shorts. His three latest shorts Aubade, Compline and Pastourelle (2010) screened in Toronto’s Wavelengths programme.
