Screen Media has acquired US rights from Toronto-based sales agent Cinesavvy to Robert Townsend’s biopic Phantom Punch.

Ving Rhames plays the legendary heavyweight boxer Sonny Liston and Toronto’s Access Motion Pictures produced the project.

Abhi Rastogi, who previously worked with Cinemavault and launched Cinesavvy last year, has previously closed deals with California Filmes in Brazil, Smile Entertainment in Scandinavia, Horizon One Entertainment in Australia, and Shooting Stars in the Middle East.

Negotiations for the UK, France, South Korea and Germany are ongoing during the festival.

“We are very proud to start our first year with such healthy sales in today’s market place,” Rastogi said. “Our strategy is to carefully hand pick titles with commercial appeal and get involved with them as early as the financing stage.”

Cinesavvy’s upcoming titles include two more projects from Access Motion Pictures that are currently in post-production.

Horror title Cell 213 comes from Boogeyman director Stephen Kay and Frankie And Alice stars Halle Berry as a schizophrenic with a racist alter-ego. Stellan Skarsgaard also stars.
