Seven film have been shortlisted for consideration for the visual effects Oscar by the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (AMPAS).
They are Casino Royale, Night At The Museum, Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Poseidon, Superman Returns and X-Men The Last Stand.
On Jan 17, the Academy's visual effects award nominating committee will view 15 minute film excerpts from each of the seven shortlisted films and then vote to nominate three films for Oscar consideration.
The Oscar nominations are announced on Jan 23, 2007.
