Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire looks favourite to add BAFTA honours to its huge Golden Globe success.

The film - which picked up four Globes this week including best picture - is nominated in 11 categories including best film, best director (Boyle), best actor (Dev Patel), best supporting actresss (Freida Pinto), best adapted screenplay and Outstanding British Film.

It is also nominated in the cinematography, editing, music, production design and sound categories.

But it shares top billing with The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button which was also nominated 11 times, including best film, best director (David Fincher), best actor (Brad Pitt), best adapted screenplay and cinematography.

The Dark Knight was nominated in nine categories and Clint Eastwood's The Changeling in eight.

The other best film nominees are Milk, The Reader and Frost/Nixon while best British film nominees alongside Slumdog are Mamma Mia! The Movie, Man On Wire, Hunger and In Bruges.

Double-Globe winner Kate Winslet is nominated for best actress for both The Reader and Revolutionary Road.

Brad Pitt is another double nominee for both Benjamin Button as lead actor and Burn After Reading as supporting actor.

Hayley Atwell, Gemma Arterton and Academy Chairman David Parfitt announced the nominations.

The ceremony will be held at London's Royal Opera House on February 8 hosted by Jonathan Ross.
