Steven Soderbergh, who directed Bubble for HDNet, has committed to making another digital film for the company. He will start shooting The Girlfriend Experience, set in the world of high-class escorts, in February 2008.

Details remain skimpy on the new project. Soderbergh is currently in Latin-America filming his two Che Guevara films.

'The film will be filmed much in the way Bubble was and will once again use non-professional actors in the main roles,' Jason Kliot of HDNet Films commented.

HDNet hasn't yet decided if it will follow the innovative, multi-platform release strategy that it pioneered with Bubble. 'We haven't yet decided if the release would be day and date or more traditional route,' Kliot said.

Other forthcoming HDNet projects include Alex Gibney's feature-documentary Gonzo: The Life and Times of Hunter Thompson, about the legendary journalist. This should be ready early next year and is likely to surface in Sundance or Cannes.

Also new from HDNet Films is Brian De Palma's controversial Iraq war project Redacted, which screens in Toronto following its premiere last week in Venice.
