Based principally in Toronto, Azam will work with Telefilm executive director Wayne Clarkson to ensure that the films in which the agency invests receive a higher standard of theatrical release. Reporting directly to agency COO Elizabeth Friesen, Azam will oversee investments from the English-language marketing component of the Canada Feature Film Fund.
One of her key tasks will be coordinating joint efforts with promotion, broadcasting, theatrical and Web partners to identify opportunities and maximise results. The specialist aspect of her role will take her to Telefilm's other offices on a regular basis to consult with the feature film teams and English market clients.
While at Zeitgeist, Azam directed major campaigns across various media, including Oscar runs, as well as engaging in acquisitions and harnessing international festivals.
