Korea's Secret Sunshine was the big winner at the second edition of the Asian Film Awards (AFAs) last night, scooping best film, best director for Lee Chang-dong and best actress for Jeon Do-yeon's performance.
The AFA prizes follow almost of a year of top honours for Secret Sunshine, which also won bestactress at last year's Cannes and best film and actress at Australia's Asia Pacific Screen Awards.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong star Tony Leung Chiu-wai was awarded best actor for his role in Ang Lee's Lust, Caution. China's Sun Honglei took best supporting actor for Sergei Bodrov's Genghis Khan biopic Mongol.
Joan Chen was awarded best supporting actress for The Sun Also Rises, directed by Jiang Wen. The film, which is set across three different locations and time frames, also took best production director for the work of Cao Jiuping and Zhang Jianqun.
Johnnie To's Mad Detective picked up best screenwriter for Au Kin-yee and Wai Ka-fai's script. Taiwan's Help Me Eros, was awarded best cinematographer for Liao Penjung.
Bollywood smash hit Om Shanti Om scooped best composer for Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani's foot-tapping score, while Hong Kong's Ng Yuen-fai won best visual effects for war epic The Warlords. Another Hong Kong film, Eye In The Sky, took the best editor award.
