The UK 's Sheffield Doc/Fest has recruited The Independent newspaper as the festival's presenting media sponsor.
The festival will now be known as Sheffield Doc/Fest in association with The Independent, and the sponsorship deal also includes editorial, advertising and marketing initiatives.
Heather Croall, festival director of Doc/Fest, said: 'With The Independent on board, it's an exciting time for the Festival. It's a highly respected newspaper and will encourage more people to embrace documentaries and factual TV. From a business perspective, the association with the newspaper is a stamp of approval from the media industry that the Festival is crucial event in the UK for documentary professionals and fans.'
Sheffield Doc/Fest will host its 14th edition Nov 7-11. Other event sponsors include the BBC, Channel 4 and Sky one, Creative Sheffield, and Screen Yorkshire.
