Philippe Lioret’s Welcome won the Heartland Film Festival’s $100,000 Grand Prize Award for best dramatic feature and P-Star Rising by Gabriel Noble took the $25,000 Award for best documentary feature.

In other key winners at the 18th annual Crystal Heart Awards Gala, Dean Yamada collected the $10,000 Vision Award for best short film for Bicycle (Jitensha).

Pixar co-founder and Walt Disney and Pixar president Ed Catmull, was honoured with the Pioneering Spirit Award for his creative spirit in filmmaking and his contribution to Heartland’s mission.
