The Association Of Film Commmissioners International (AFCI), which is staging its annual Locations Trade Show in Los Angeles April 12 to 14, is launching a series of AFCI Global Initiatives.

The initiatives include a worldwide educational programme covering the breadth of the film commission profession, easy access to the most current information available on worldwide incentives and an efficient way to make confidential location inquiries to one or multiple AFCI members commissions through the AFCI website.

The AFCI is launching a certified film commissioner programme whereby worldwide standards are established for film commissions and the services they provide. The starter course, Film Commission Fundamentals, is an online course designed for all office staff.

Five Master Class offerings in the certified commissioners programme are built on core competiencies across six disciplines: understanding the entertainment industry, production and the film commissioner's role, marketing and communication techniques, film office operations, business management and economic development, building alliances and partnerships and leadership skills and ethics. The Master Classes will be delivered at AFCI's two main industry events: the Locations Trade Show and annual education conference Cineposium.

Meanwhile, AFCI is launching 'dynamic' online information on financial and tax incentives on a global basis through its website www.afci.org.

The 22nd annual Locations Trade Show will take place at Santa Monica Civic Auditorium and will feature 260 exhibitors from 30 countries.
