Swiss distributor Ascot Elite is launching into the German theatrical market with the release of Rodrigo Cortes’ Sundance buzz film Buried.

Speaking exclusively to ScreenDaily in Berlin, CEO Ralph Dietrich said it would schedule a release after Lionsgate has launched the title in the US in June.

While booking and billing would be farmed out to an agency, the marketing campaign will be handled by Ascot Elite itself.

“We are looking for unique titles to release theatrically,”’ Dietrich said about its future strategy.

Chief Operating Officer Stephan Giger added The Disappearance of Alice Creed, another Ascot Elite acquisition, also has “clear cinema potential” and could be its second release in German cinemas.
