EXCLUSIVE: Fresh from the Star Trek 2 shoot, Chris Pine will jet into Cannes to meet with sales agents on the new comedy.

Pine wrote the screenplay with Will Greenberg, Drew Howerton, Robert Baker, Ian Gotler and Tony Liebetrau, about a group of men who try to instil responsibility in their pal, a former child star, by taking him on a day of activities.

Jeff Kalligheri and Texan real estate mogul Stephen Bowen’s fledgling production and sales venture Waterstone is fully financing and producing the project, which Michael Patrick Jann will direct. The aim is to go into production before Pine is likely to start shooting Untitled Jack Ryan Project later in the year.

Pine will produce with Sarah Babineau, Jordan Foley and Waterstone’s Kalligheri, Bowen and Steven Garcia. Jay Cohen of Gersh Agency represents domestic rights on the project.

Mantivities is a really well executed original script and we can’t wait to get started on this hilarious indie comedy,” Kalligheri said.

Pine added: “I couldn’t be happier to begin the adventure of making Mantivities knowing how much fun we all had writing it. Somehow I get to laugh with my friends and call it work.”

Waterstone’s development slate includes true tale They Might Be Kennedys, based on a screenplay by Ted Collins about the two men in the 1980s who lived the high life by masquerading as members of the iconic American clan.

Waterstone has also lined up previously announced an adaptation of Og Mandino’s self-help bestseller The Greatest Salesman In The World, horror project Killcam and completed psychological drama The Letter starring Winona Ryder and James Franco, which Bleiberg Entertainment represents for international sales here.

Jann is represented by CAA, Pine is managed by John Carrabino and attorney Gendler & Kelly and Waterstone Entertainment is represented by Cohen at Gersh. Greenberg is handled by CAA and Baker is handled by The Kohner Agency.
