Jaz Films has acquired Michelangelo Antonioni’s last script Two Telegrams and has already fully financed the feature and is in the process of attaching a director and cast.

Antonioni, whose 1960 mystery L’Avventura screens tonight (May 20) in the Cannes Classics programme decades after its world premiere on the Croisette, co-wrote the script shortly before he died aged 95 in 2007 with veteran screenwriter Rudy Wurlitzer.

Jaz Films’ Jeremy Wall and Zev Guber acquired the project from Antonioni’s Estate and wife Enrica Antonioni. Two Telegrams was inspired by a short story and tells the tale of three people wrapped up in a passionate vortex of love and control.

Jaz Films partner Jeremy Wall said: “Michelangelo Antonioni was a brilliant and revered film-maker for over 50 years and we are honoured to be collaborating with his long time friend and writing partner, Rudy Wurlitzer, in bringing Two Telegrams to life.”

Jaz Films aims to produced two or three projects a year and launched Dan Myrick’s The Objective at Tribeca last year and also made Ruyhei Kitamura’s Versus.
