Lionsgate UK takes on Coriolanus, Dangerous Method

The UK-based company has added Ralph Fiennes’ directorial debut and David Cronenberg’s next film to its 2011 slate.

Lionsgate UK has made two high-profile acquisitions for its theatrical slate: Ralph Fiennes’ Coriolanus and David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method.

A Dangerous Method stars Keira Kinightly, Viggo Mortensen, Michael Fassbender and Vincent Cassel, in the story of a woman who comes between Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung. It will start shooting in May. Christopher Hampton adapted the script from his stage play The Talking Cure.

Coriolanus, now shooting in Serbia, is Fiennes’ feature directorial debut. He stars alongside Gerard Butler, Vanessa Redgrave and Brian Cox.

The story is about a cast-out Roman general who seeks revenge on the city. Fiennes also produces with Gabrielle Tana, Julia Taylor-Stanley, Colin Vaines and writer John Logan.

Lionsgate UK’s 2011 slate also includes Next Three Days, Drive Angry 3D, Blitz, an untitled Seth Rogan comedy, Conan 3D and Salmon Fishing In The Yemen.

Lionsgate, CEO Zygi Kamasa, said, “By adding A Dangerous Method and Coriolanus to our 2011 slate we have re-established our relationships with some fantastic talent. We are fortunate to be in a position to work with such gifted actors and film-makers a number of times throughout their career.”
