Christoph Waltz has come on board Good Universe and Lionsgate’s crime thriller Candy Store. Good Universe launches sales on the Croisette this week and Lionsgate will distribute in North America.

The recent Oscar winner joins previously announced Robert De Niro, Jason Clarke and Omar Sy.

Stephen Gaghan will direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with Shannon Burke about a former operative who teams up with a disgraced police officer to thwart a threat on New York.

Waltz will play a Cold War consigliere posing as an American suburbanite and Sy plays an international sex trade profiteer. Clarke is the operative and De Niro plays the retired police officer.

Allison Shearmur and Gaghan produce and Good Universe’s Joe Drake, Nathan Kahane and Nicole Brown serve as executive producers alongside Flashlight Films’ Allyn Stewart and Kipp Nelson.
