The San Francisco Film Society will present Robert Duvall with the Peter J Owens Award in honour of his “brilliance, independence and integrity.”

The presentation will take place on April 29 during the 53rd San Francisco International Film Festival, which runs from April 22 to May 6.

The event will include an onstage tribute to Duvall featuring a clip reel of career highlights, onstage interview and a screening of his most recent film Get Low.

“Robert Duvall is inarguably one of the world’s greatest actors,” the San Francisco Film Society’s executive director Graham Leggat said. “We’re absolutely thrilled to honour a man who has delivered so many unforgettable performances in his extraordinary career, creating characters as wide ranging as Boo Radley, consigliere Tom Hagen, Lieutenant Colonel Bill Kilgore and now Felix Bush, in Get Low, to name only a few of his more than 130 indelible roles.”

Duvall’s credits include To Kill A Mockingbird, The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, The Great Santini, Tender Mercies, The Apostle, and The Road.
