The third annual Los Angeles Greek Film Festival will open on June 25 with Christos Georgiou’s Small Crime and close on June 28 with Alexis Kardaras’ Guinness.

Seven fiction films, seven documentaries and eight shorts will play at the event which takes place at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.

Taking place during the festival will be a tribute to Penelope Spheeris with a special screening of her 1984 feature Suburbia and 1998 short No Use Walkin’ When You Can Stroll. Nia Vardalos and Phedon Papamichael will appear on a panel discussion sponsored by Greece’s Ministry Of Tourism Development entitled Beyond Borders: Greece On The International Film Stage, while closing night ceremonies will feature the presentation of the Orpheus Awards for best dramatic feature, best documentary, best short, special jury award and audience choice.

Also screening in dramatic competition are Panos Karkanevatos’ Athanasia – Well Kept Secrets, Athanasios Karanikolas’ Elli Makra – 3277 Wuppertal, Paolo Marinou-Blanco’s Goodnight Irene and Evangelos Giovanis, George Giovanis’ Run It and Constantina Voulgaris’ Valse Sentimentale.
