David Gerson has been promoted to Focus Features' vice president of production and development and Matthew Plouffe has been named creative executive.

Gerson reports to Focus president of production John Lyons and Plouffe reports to Gerson. Both are based in New York and previously worked as assistants to Lyons after joining the company in 2004.

The duo has worked together on several films, including the titles under Focus' deal with the publisher Random House. Gerson served as creative executive on Reservation Road, which opened last month and is the first film to emerge from that deal, as well as the development projects Curveball and The Attack.

'These promotions reflect how indispensable David and Matt have become to our department and to the company,' Lyons said.

'With Focus increasing its slate and working closely with Universal Pictures' new international production venture, Random House Films, Working Title Films, and other partners, they will be pooling their resources on projects not just in offices but on location.'
