’80s hits fill the dancefloor at the party for the Directors’ Fortnight closing film.

Pathe International’s 1984-set British comedy drama Pride concluded the Director’s Fortnight section in Cannes, where it won warm reviews, with an equally entertaining party to match at C Beach. Representing something of a debaucherous wedding, nibbles consisted of salmon sandwiches and mini-quiches (that you could only indulge on if you stood by the kitchen door) and ’80s tunes such as ‘Come on Eileen’ and ‘Rock the Casbah’ belted out from the speakers.  Later into the evening, as the well-stocked bar continued to shell out cocktails, the DJ transitioned to hits like Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies’ with a wall-to-wall packed dance floor that swayed back and forth in sheer intoxication.

Pride director Marcus Warchus would undoubtedly be ‘proud’ - it was an evening enjoyed by the en-masse of film critics, distributors, sales agent and fellow director Thomas Cailley, the record-breaking winner of three Director’s Fortnight prizes for his film Love at First Fight.
