Netflix has completed its fourth acquisition from Cannes, taking worldwide rights to Ron Howard’s documentary Avedon, about the photographer Richard Avedon.
The streamer will debut the feature from Imagine Documentaries globally later this year and did not guide on a specific date.
Avedon traces the life and legacy of the US fashion and portrait photographer who worked for Elle, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and more broadly shot world-famous subjects ranging from Marilyn Monroe and Dwight D. Eisenhower to Andy Warhol and Buster Keaton.
Imagine Documentaries produced with Fifth Season in association with The Richard Avedon Foundation. Netflix recently partnered with Imagine Documentaries on the documentary feature Marty, Life Is Short.
This is Netflix’s fourth Cannes acquisition after La Bola Negra, Gentle Monster, and In Waves.
