Indian music major Saregamahas unveiled a slate of seven features, headed by Karma Confession &Holy to be directed by New York-based Indian filmmaker Manish Gupta.

The comedy, which starsIndian actors Sushmita Sen and Randeep Hooda, begins shooting in New York this month. It follows three sets of characters - Indianswho have migrated to the US, Indians born in the US andAmericans. Gupta's previous creditsincludethe comedy Indian Fish In AmericanWaters.

Saregama, which announcedits move into film production in 2003, has back-to-back features planned untilthe beginning of 2007. In Feb 2006, the company plans to start shootingambitious epic Draupadi, based on the Indian epic Mahabharata,which has Rituparno Ghosh attached to direct.

International scholars of theMahabharata - including Indiana University's Gerald Larson and George Washington University's Alf Hiltebeitel - have been consulted on theproject with a view to raising international awareness and support.

Other projects on Saragama'sslate include Geet, to bedirected by Imtiaz Ali and starBobbyDeol andBhoomika Chawla; Sufi, to be directed by Samar Khan, and projectsfrom Indian filmmakers Ananth Mahadevan, MayurPuri and Anubhav Sinha.
