European Film Promotion (EFP) has signed up 29 European companies for its umbrella stand at Busan’s Asian Film Market (Oct 10-13), where it will be supporting a record number of 31 European films.

Most of the 22 sales companies and seven EFP member organisations are regulars at the Asian Film Market, although some are revisiting Busan after several years or for the first time to explore the fast-developing Asian market.

Participating companies benefit from EFP’s Film Sales Support (FSS) which is available to European sales agents for the marketing of European films to Korea and the rest of Asia. Amongst the 31 FSS-supported films are Memories Corner (France-Canada), directed by Audrey Fouché, which is competing for the Flash Forward Award in the festival.

“EFP recognises that BIFF continues to grow in importance, not only regionally, but with the institution of the Asian Film Market, internationally,” said EFP managing director Renate Rose.

Among the companies attending are France’s BAC Films, Kinology and Le Pacte, Germany’s Beta Cinema, Films Boutique and m-appeal, Italy’s Fandango Portobello and Scandinavian sellers TrustNordisk and The Yellow Affair.

EFP member organisations include the Austrian Film Commission, the Danish Film Institute, Film Center Serbia, Cinecitta Luce – Filmitalia, the Polish Film Institute, Swiss Films and Unifrance.

EFP will also be hosting a networking reception at the Asian Film Market on October 11 at 5pm in Centum Hotel.
