The executive has joined Continental Media as president and has begun EFM talks with buyers on Petr Jakl’s The Ghoul.

Bort previously served as vice-president of sales at Cinema Management Group and prior to that served as executive in North America for Spanish studio Filmax Entertainment.

“Daniel’s experience in film sales and distribution is vast, and we are excited to welcome someone of his calibre to our organisation,” said Continental Media’s Neil Harrington.

“As success in this industry is often defined by the quality of the movies and the abilities of the sales force, the upward mobility for Continental Media is robust.”

Continental Media has released more than 30 titles including Noble, which is scheduled for a 500-screen North American theatrical release in May.

“The market is changing rapidly, and I don’t believe we will be doing business in 10 years the same way we are doing it now,” said Bort.

“Partnering with CM’s leadership gives me the resources to navigate turbulent waters and position the company as a viable distribution alternative for independent filmmakers.”
