Bill Pohlad and Bob Berney’s new distribution company Apparition has confirmed the third addition to its maiden slate is GK Films’ Toronto closer The Young Victoria, starring Emily Blunt.
Apparition, which officially launched last week, will release the romantic account of the early life of Britain’s longest reigning monarch on November 13 in the US. Rupert Friend plays Prince Albert and the cast includes Paul Bettany, Miranda Richardson, Jim Broadbent, Mark Strong and Thomas Kretschmann.
Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group (SPWAG) will handle all domestic ancillary rights per its agreement with Apparition.
Jean-Marc Vallee directed from a screenplay by Julian Fellowes. GK Films’ Graham King produced with Martin Scorsese, Tim Headington and Sarah Ferguson. Colin Vaines served as executive producer.
“It’s such a relevant story of our times and will resonate with audiences both young and old,” King said. “Bob is a true expert in his field and we look forward to working with him and his team at Apparition on the release of The Young Victoria.”

Apparition’s first two titles announced last week are Jane Campion’s Cannes premiere Bright Starand Terrence Malick’s The Tree Of Life with Brad Pitt and Sean Penn. The company plans to release seven or eight films a year.
