Wild Bunch has sold British Rufus Norris’s Critics’ Week opener Broken to a French consortium of Le Pacte and Why Not Productions.
Pascal Caucheteux, chief of the Paris-based auteur driven Why Not Productions who produced Rust & Bone and co-produced Beyond the Hills and The Angels’ Share, is believed to be interested in working with Norris in the future.
Broken, theatre director Norris’ debut feature film, follows an 11-year-old-girl whose life changes when she witnesses a violent attack on a boy accused of rape.
It is one of a record 16 festival titles being handled by French sales powerhouse Wild Bunch at Cannes this year.
