Film Movement buys In The Name Of

Film Movement has acquired Małgośka Szumowska’s Berlinale entry In The Name Of. Separately, O-Scope, Submarine Deluxe, Wolfe Releasing and National Geographic Cinema Ventures have all been in acquisitive mood.

The love story tells of a homosexual priest in rural Poland on a journey of self-discovery that challenges the very foundation of his Catholic faith and sworn mission.

Film Movement plans a day-and-date limited theatrical release and VoD in the third quarter. President Adley Gartenstein negotiated the deal with Memento Films International head of sales and acquisitions Tanja Meissner.

Oscilloscope Laboratories has picked up North American rights to Hannah Fidell’s Sundance entry A Teacher and will release later in the year. The SXSW-bound drama charts the disintegration of a high school teacher who has an affair with a student. Lindsay Burdge and Will Brittain star. O-Scope negotiated the deal with ICM Partners.

Submarine Deluxe has acquired North American rights to Mareike Wegener’s documentary Mark Lombardi: Death Defying Acts Of Art & Conspiracy. David Koh and Dan Braun of Submarine Deluxe brokered the deal with Stanley Buchthal of Dakota Group and Stefan Kloos of Rise & Shine World Sales. Submarine Deluxe plans a theatrical Release later this year on the study of the American Neo-Conceptual artist.  

Wolfe Releasing has acquired world rights to Joshua Sanchez’s drama Four, about two couples on dates on a steamy July The Fourth. Wolfe plans a summer theatrical release followed by VoD and DVD.

National Geographic Cinema Ventures (NGCV) will distribute five original films on either large-format or digital 3D cinemas in museums worldwide commencing this spring. The films will launch individually over the next 18 to 24 months. The films are: Deepsea Challenge 3D; Mysteries Of The Unseen World; Wildest Weather In The Solar System; Jerusalem 3D; and Mysteries Of The Unseen World 3D.
