Yorgos Lanthimos’ follow-up to Dogtooth marks the second collaboration with the company which also previously released his Oscar nominated foreign language entry for Greece.
President and CEO Richard Lorber brokered the deal with Match Factory MD Michael Weber and the parties also agreed terms for the documentaries Whores’ Glory and Gerhard Richter Painting.
Alps will screen at the AFI Fest in Los Angeles in November and centres on an underground group that approaches people and offers to impersonate their dear departed.
“We are delighted to be working closely again with Michael Weber and his team at Match Factory, following a most successful collaboration two years ago with our release of their Oscar Nominated Ajami,” Lorber said.
“We had different but equally compelling reasons to be interested in each of the three films in this deal and it only made it more convenient that Match Factory represented them all. Their discerning taste in bringing a wide range of exceptional films to the world market remains unparalleled.”
Whores’ Glory is the third film in Michael Glawogger’s globalisation trilogy while Corinna Belz’s Gerhard Richter Painting is a study of the artist at work.
