Vicente Canales Film Factory sales company travels to the next American Film Market with two new films on its slate: Daniel Calparsoro’s Combustion and Daniel Sánchez Arévalo’s My Family And Other Hooligans.

Daniel Sánchez Arévalo (DarkBlueAlmostBlack, Cousinhood) goes back to comedy with My Family And Other Hooligans, already in production, a film that portrays what happens during a wedding taking place while the Soccer World Cup finals are played in South Africa with a Spanish triumph.


The cast is led by Antonio de la Torre (The Last Circus), Quim Gutiérrez (DarkBlueAlmostBlack) and Verónica Echegui (The Cold Light of Day. Atípica Films (Unit 7), Mod Producciones (Agora, Biutiful) and Antena 3 Films produce.

Vicente Canales said: “Sánchez Arévalo is a brilliant director and My Family and Other Hooligans is an amazing hilarious film. It perfectly suits with the slate of the most important and contrasting directors that we wan to bring to the marketplace.”

Another high profile film currently in production that Vicente Canales will introduce to buyers at AFM will be Combustion, an action thriller by Daniel Calparsoro (Guerreros), who will screen his latest film Invader in Sitges.

Combustion is a car racing film underscored by a passionate love story. The film stars Alex González (X Men: First Class), Alberto Amman (Cell 211) and Adriana Ugarte (a popular TV star in Spain). It is produced by leading production companies in the box office: Zeta Cinema (I Want You) and Antena 3 Films (Red Lights).

icente Canales slate this year brings some of the most important titles of recent Spanish production. The End, by Jorge Torregrossa, is a thriller set in an apocalyptic landscape with Maribel Verdú, Daniel Grao, and Andrés Velencoso.

Unit 7
, already an international hit in sales, is an action thriller with Mario Casas (I Want You) set in the police war on drugs. Animals, by debutant Marçal Forés, was a critical success in last San Sebastián and might play well on arthouse circuits.

A hit in Spanish cinemas, Winning Streak, by Eduard Cortés, with Daniel Brühl is an exhilarating heist film about a family that discovered the way to legally win at roulette.

Another project is Foosball 3D, the first animation film of Oscar winner Juan José Campanella (The Secret of Her eyes) with the collaboration of Sergio Pablo, animation supervisor of Tarzan, Hercules and Rio. It’s a story of love, friendship and respect with a foosball competition as its setting.
