Delpy, Films Distribution soar with Skylab

Delpy will direct and star in the project alongside Aure Atika and Noemie Lvovsky.

Julie Delpy is teaming with Films Distribution on her next project, The Skylab, the company’s Nicolas Brigaud-Robert told Screen.

Delpy will direct and star in the project along with Aure Atika, Noemie Lvovsky, Bernadette Lafon and Eric Elmosnino. Michael Gentile (Vinyan, The Time That Remains) is producing.

The Skylab is set in 1979 during a period of rampant fear that the US space station might fall from the sky. Hard hats were sold as Skylab Survival Kits during the panic – folks were concerned they’d be killed by falling debris. Ultimately, in July of that year, The Skylab scattered its debris from the Southeastern Indian Ocean across a lightly-populated area of western Australia.

The story is set in France as a family gathers, waiting for The Skylab to fall. The film starts shooting in Normandy in June 1.
