Dublin-based post-production company Windmill Lane Pictures has set up a new international division, Windmill Lane Entertainment. TV veteran Michael Murphy will be CEO of the new venture.

“Windmill Lane Entertainment has been established to expand our international client base through attractive post-production and visual effects packages combined with highly competitive Irish tax incentives,” said James Morris, chairman of Windmill Lane Pictures. “Michael’s extensive contacts and years of experience working in the international production community made him the ideal choice to run this division and build our international business.”

Murphy joined Windmill Lane Pictures in January after founding Ireland’s Channel 6. Prior to that, he was a consultant for various broadcast clients and has worked at eircom, TV3, Yes Television.

Murphy added:  “With a €5m investment in a new data production studio designed for high-end film and TV post production and visual effects carried out in 2009, Windmill is on par with the very best in the world.  This, coupled with highly competitive Irish tax incentives, make Windmill Lane a very compelling international alternative for film and television producers.”

Windmall has previously done post for films by directors including Neil Jordan, Jim Sheridan and John Boorman.
