Sony Pictures Releasing (UK) has set an early Oct 31 opening date in the UK for the next James Bond film, Quantum Of Solace. On that Friday, the 22nd Bond film will open at the Odeon Leicester Square and at cinemas across the UK.

The date is a week before the planned Nov 7 launch of Quantum Of Solace in the rest of the world.

The film is still shooting now and will have a quick post-production compared to most projects of its scale. The last Bond film, 2006's Casino Royale grossed $21.5m in its opening weekend in the UK and went on to gross $105.9m in the territory, representing 17.8% of the film's worldwide gross of $594.2m.

Daniel Craig takes on the Bond role for the second time, with new 007 director Marc Forster. In Quantum Of Solace, Bond still feels betrayed by Vesper Lynd and tries to keep his mission professional. Bond and M (Judi Dench) interrogate Mr White (Jesper Christensen) who reveals more about the organisation that blackmailed Vesper, led by Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric). Trailing Greene, Bond goes to Austria, Italy and South America.

Again, Eon Productions, Sony Pictures Entertainment and MGM are producing.
