Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group (SPWAG) has acquired all distribution rights to ContentFilm's horror thriller Outpost for a package of territories including North America, the UK and Australia.

Set in war-torn Eastern Europe, Outpost follows a band of mercenaries who undertake a dangerous mission at the behest of a mysterious businessman.

The multi-national cast includes Ray Stevenson (Rome), Julian Wadham (The Madness of King George) and Richard Brake (Batman Begins). Steve Barker directs.

Produced by Black Camel Pictures and Cinema One in association with Matador Pictures and Regent Capital, the film is produced by Black Camel's Arabella Page Croft and Kieran Parker and executive produced by Nigel Thomas of Cinema One.

The all-rights deal - which also covers Eire, New Zealand, South Africa, Greece and Israel - was concluded by ContentFilm International's Jamie Carmichael and SPWAG's senior vice president of acquisitions and productions Lara Thompson.

Carmichael said SPWAG is 'the perfect home for Outpost. They're really well positioned to exploit this kind of material.'

Thompson said SPWAG was 'very impressed by the footage and with a concept this strong and clear it really works for us.'
