Universal Pictures has moved its graphic novel adaptation Wanted starring Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy into a prime summer 2008 slot.

The film was scheduled to open on March 28 but will now go out on June 27 2008.

'After an early look at Wanted, we are certain that it fulfils its promise as a stunning, committed, thrilling, eye-popping vision that introduces a bold new narrative,' Universal's distribution president Nikki Rocco said.

'We believe it can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the event titles of the summer and will give audiences a chance to discover a fresh new alternative.'

Night Watch creator Timur Bekmambetov directs the action story of a bored office worker who learns he is descended from a line of super assassins and pledges to find his father's killer.

Jolie plays the member of a secret sect headed by Morgan Freeman who trains him. Terence Stamp and Thomas Kretschmann also star. 3:10 To Yuma's Michael Brandt and Derek Haas adapted the screenplay with Chris Morgan.

Marc Platt, Jason Netter, Jim Lemley and Iain Smith are producing and Marc Silvestri, Adam Siegel, Roger Birnbaum and Gary Barber served as executive producers.

Wanted is a Universal Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment presentation of a Marc Platt/Kickstart Production in association with Top Cow.
