Internationally renowned German director Wolfgang Petersen is returning to his TV roots by forging a joint venture with Germany's Senator Entertaiment to produce English-language TV series.

The partnership, which will operate out of Senator's Cologne-based subsidiary Pro Programme und Produktionen fuer Buehne und Fernsehen, is to concentrate on the production of quality programming for the international market. This includes a documentary series about the Cold War, which is currently in development.

Petersen will oversee these projects as executive producer via his production company Radiant Productions as part of a three-year contract with Senator.

Before beginning his feature film career in the early 1970s, Petersen directed several episodes of the Scene Of The Crime (Tatort) series as well as the TV film Ich Werde Dich Toeten, Wolf.

In 2001, he expanded into the field of US television by producing the TV series The Agency for CBS via Radiant.
