Beta Film has picked up the international distribution rights for Olav F. Wehling's Kronos which began shooting Monday on location in the Moroccan desert near Ouarzazate and Merzouga.

The family drama is being produce d by Lisa Groezinger and Christopher Zwickler of the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg with the ZDFtheaterkanal, CP Medien, Kasbah-Films and the facilities company Panther.

Kronos is a contemporary version of the story of Cronos, Uranos, Gaia and Rhea from Greek mythology. The leads are taken by Isolde Barth, Klaus Gruenberg, Sonja Gruentzig, Sergej Moya, and Oktay Ozdemir.

Wehling's previous film Futschicato won prizes at the Festival of German Cinema and the Max Ophuels Prize Film Festival in Saarbruecken.
