Brazilian film won prizes at Rio International Film Festival.

Cinemavault has acquired international rights to the Brazilian biopic Boca, starring Daniel de Oliveira as one of that country’s most ruthless mobsters, Hiroito Joanides. Sales will begin during the EFM.

Toronto-based Cinemavault notes that Boca is based on a true story of the godfather-like mobster as a prime figure in the underworld of Boca do Lixo.

Boca marks the feature debut of director Flavio Frederico, who also wrote, produced the film, and negotiated the sales deal with Cinemavault’s Craig Morrow, VP of acquisitions.

Boca bowed at the Rio International Film Festival, where it garnered awards for best cinematography and editing. It is scheduled for a domestic theatrical release (100 prints) in September 2011.
