Darclight Films, the genre division of Australian-US saleshouse Arclight, has picked up international sales rights outside Asia to WilsonYip's forthcoming SPL.

The$3.8m police kung-fu action drama is recently completed and was picked up byDarclight's Gary Hamilton on the eve of Hong Kong Entertainment Expo, the newevent which encompasses FilMart and the Hong Kong Asia Film Finance Forum.

Hamilton has already struck a deal for French rights withco-distributors Pathe and Des Films, a company controlled by Jean-PierreDionnet.

The film, which was produced through Abba Chan's Abba Moviesand produced by former Emperor chief Carl Chang, stars local superstar DonnieYen and martial arts legend Sammo Hung.

The picture is also one of the first thirdparty pictures to be handled by Hong Kong's Celestial Pictures (see ScreenDaily.comyesterday). Celestial has Asian rights only.
