Former Revolver and Channel 4 executive takes over from James Brown

Joel Kennedy has joined the UK’s Metrodome Distribution as head of acquisitions. Kennedy will report to Metrodome Group CEO and chairman Mark Webster.

Outgoing head of acquisitions James Brown will continue his association with Metrodome via the first look deal the distributor has with production company Neon Park, of which Brown is a partner.

In 2008 Kennedy joined UK outfit Revolver Entertainment as senior acquisitions manager, acquiring across all platforms for UK and North America. He was promoted to head of acquisitions in 2009, acquiring and working on deals for Charlie Kaufman’s Synecdoche, New York and Banksy’s Exit Through The Gift Shop, among others. Kennedy also produced special interest DVD releases.

Prior to joining Revolver, Kennedy worked for Channel 4, acquiring and programming for the channel’s home entertainment department and before that worked as product manager on titles such as Hidden and The Consequences Of Love at Artificial Eye.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have Joel on board as head of acquisitions. Joel has a fantastic reputation and will be a great asset to the company,” said Webster.

Neon Park’s first production Age Of Heroes was recently released through Metrodome while the distributor yesterday confirmed its acquisition of Sex And Zen 3D.
