EXCLUSIVE: K5 sells heartwarming documentary is about American Samoa football team.

K5 International has closed five big territories for its the heartwarming football documentary Next Goal Wins.

Deals have been done with the UK (Icon), France (Bodega), Australia (Madman), Japan (Asmik) and the Middle East (Falcon).

Other deals will be announced soon.

The Archer’s Mark and Agile Films production is directed by Mike Brett and Steve Jamison and produced by Kristian Brodie.

The documentary follows the inspirational story of the American Samoa football team, a decade after suffering football’s worst defeat ever, they transform their fortunes with hard work and a new coach, maverick Dutchman Thomas Rongen.

“This is an incredible, beautifully shot, feel-good movie that demands to be seen on the big screen. It’s of course perfect timing with the World Cup coming along but there’s so much more to this film than that,” said K5 founders Oliver Simon and Daniel Baur. “All of our distribution partners have amazing track records with theatrical documentaries so we’re thrilled to be working with them.”

K5 has a solid history with docs, having worked on titles such as Buck and the Oscar nominee Cutie and The Boxer.
